Research Time!

Hi everyone!

This week, I spent my Genius Hour time researching and planning possible designs to organize my tool space. I looked through a lot of online articles, photos and watched videos on YouTube of home garage organization setups. It was useful to see how different organizational systems worked in different spaces. I also went to Home Depot to look at tool organizations options in person. This helped me better understand the size and practicality of different storage systems. My goal was to find a system that holds the tools I use most often and that fit in my space.

After researching organizational tool systems, I learned that the most effective tool spaces keep tools visible and easy to access. Most of the examples I saw grouped tools together based on type and how frequently they are used. This is an important factor to me when choosing a system. I need to be able to quickly identify and grab the right tool to save time during a project.

There are so many organizational systems available online, that it was overwhelming to try and choose one for my tool area. Many of the designs I liked did not work well in the small space I have in my garage. A lot of the options would also be overly expensive or take too much time to assemble. I decided that I need to get something small and pre-built to help me organize my tool area.

Before our next Genius Hour, I plan to take more photos of my current tool setup and measure the available space more carefully. My main question moving forward is how can I balance having tools visible and easy to access while still keeping the space clean and organized. My next step will be turning what I’ve learned from all my research into a clear plan so that I can start organizing my tool area.

Thanks for following along!

Steven

Here are some ideas I have:
